MR. SERGEY L KOLTOV CONSUL GENERAL, RUSSIAN FEDERATION on RUSSIA TODAY

Innovation Incubator(i2) of Nehru Memorial College organised a lecture by Mr.Sergey L Koltov, Consul General, Russian Federation on 26 November 2014.

Dr. T.JayaPrakasam, principal welcomed the gathering. In his welcome address, the principal said "It is heartening to welcome the longest friend of independent India - Russia to NMC. The ties between India and Russian have weather all the storms and stood like a solid rock in the midst of half a turbulent sea. Consul Ceneral Sergey L Koltov's visit to NMC will boost the research and academic exchange between the two countries.

prof. M. Ponnambalam, Chairman of NMC in his address said "Both the nations are tightly tide in their relationship which has helped to move forward in several fields. Notable among them are space research, Science and technology. India has been helped by Russia especialyl in the defence equipments and nuclear energy which was denied by other nations due to the strong reservation against India's forward growth.

Er. Pon. Balasubramanian, President of NMC said "We need to collaborate and innovate together. The historic ties between India and Russia can help both to advance further. Growth of these two nations can help the world to move forward in a better way. We need active engagement for innovative Technologies and cost effective methods to help our people to have satisfactory lives".

Sergey L. Koltov, Consul General, Russian Federation in his lecture said "Russia is the second largest nation in terms of land area and seventh largest in population. India holds this ranks in the reverse - Second in population and seventh land area.

Both of us are collaborating for the past 62 years. In thick and thin of lives we are always together. No other nation can proudly say that we are thick friends for such a long period in the world history. Now it is time to utilize our ties for the better outcome of our people.

We are planning to enhance our science, technology, cultural and defence collaborations.Our nuclear energy production will get further development. Our cultural engagement will develop further with frequent exchange of cultural artist between us.

The future visit of Russian President to India will definitely pave way for multi-billion trade relationship. From the current $14 billion bilateral trade, we are expected to increase it to $20 billion in the next five years.

Such the magnitude of trade will definitely help our nations development to propel upwards.

Dean Dr. A. Prabaharan translated the Consul Central's lecture in Tamil and facilitated the question and answer session with students.
