The Department of Economics of Nehru Memorial College was started in the year 1967 with Pre-University. In 1969, B.A., course in Economics was started Tmt. R. Manimekalai M.A., M.Phil., is the Head of the department. The department is having 04 faculty members are in aided. Among the faculty members, there are three Ph.D., holders.
The department is having a well furnished library containing multiple copies of the prescribed text books and reference books for all subjects in Economics. The department also equipped with a personal computer with HP laser jet 1020 Printer, 512 MB DDR2 RAM and Sony Combo Drive with broadband internet facilities.
