The Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2006 affiliated to the Bharathidasan University, tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The Department offers M.Phil and Ph.D programmes in Biotechnology. The department has to its credits several international and national paper publications. The department imparts quality education with hands on experience to fit into the biotech industries. The department has to its credits several international and national paper publications. At present two research projects funded by UGC, DST organizations are being operated in the department. The importance of biotechnology has been realized in the last few years by many industries. The need of trained manpower in this area is on increase, we cater the needs of the industries. Eminent scientists from various premier educational / research institutes help the students with their expert guidance. Apart from this, the students are taught about recent advancements in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics through internet facility and guest lectures regularly. The ultimate idea of our department is to encourage the students to come up with their innovative ideas to utilize our fully equipped laboratory for the betterment of the society through biotechnological ideas.
