Principal Dr.A.Venkatesan presented a brief report on the academic activities of the college.

First and foremost, Prof.M.Lakshmanan congratulated the graduands, their parents and staff members for their significant achievements. In his convocation address, Prof.M.Lakshmanan appealed to the graduands to consider the graduation as the first of a glorious beginning. He quoted extensively from the Thirukkural so as to highlight the rich legacy of Parents-Children bond and commitment found in Tamil culture glorified by Thiruvalluvar. He told them five key take-away messages for excelling well in their life:

(i) Today India is flourishing in many fields and the young graduands are very fortunate enough to live in the present situation but the young graduands should be hopeful for the future. Their hard work and persistent efforts will make our country more promising and they will succeed in their life definitely.

(ii) Discipline is the significant key for achieving a wonderful stature in one’s life. The young graduands should feel proud of themselves for living in the land of Mahathma Gandhiji whose life was his message to the nation. Every one should read and follow the principles of Gandhiji in his/her life.

(iii) We should be aware of the glorious history of country. He cited the remarks from the book Indian Summer: The Secret History of the End of an Empire (2008) written by Alex Von Tunzelmann. The book speaks about two nations: India and England. India was a vast country with global vision and fortitude in 1577. But England at that time, was not self-sufficient, disease-stricken and people were under educated. Three hundred years later England emerged as a mighty imperial power with its colonies across 180 countries with the enormous power of science and technology.

(iii) Prof.M.Lakshmanan opined that India will become the leading country in economy among the countries of the world in another 20 to 25 years with the same of power of science and technology. Hence the young graduands should be mindful of finding unity in diversity in order to take part in the nation building. The young graduands should come forward to face the challenges found in the society. This growth mindset will definitely remove the innumerous social problems. Similarly, one should go and grab the manifold opportunities available in the present scenario for the young people.

(iv) Prof.Lakshmanan expressed concern about the environmental pollution everywhere and bad impact of drug culture among the youth in Tamil Nadu. Hence, he appealed to the young graduands to safe guard themselves from the drug addiction. This needs to be taken as a challenge to channelize the energy of the young people to become a more powerful nation in the world. Let us follow the rules of the road to make a safe journey. Let us transform the solar energy to be the suitable replacement for our energy consumption. If young entrepreneurs of Gujarat and Japan can involve themselves in this transformation, why not the young graduands like you. Let us all fight for a corruption-free society and it is possible by your efforts.

(v) Each young graduand should try to become an expert in his/her chosen field. Learn many languages, know more about artificial intelligence, and be keen on learning new things every day. Remember what you have learnt is very less and to be learnt is vast. Finally, he cited an example from the life of Sir Isaac Newton. He said Newton was reflective of his inventions as just simple things and the world has a lot more amazing things in itself.

Hence one should be in the process of self-discovery and new things throughout his/her life, Prof. Lakshmanan added. Thirumathi. Leelamani Lakshmanan, Members of the College Committee Shri.A.Loganathan, Shrimathi Thenmozhi Thangaraja, Shrimathi Mala Balasubramanian, Shrimathi Shyamala Ravichandran, Shri Surya Balasubramanian were present on the occasion. The convocation function arrangements were taken care of by the Principal Dr A.Venkatesan, and the Coordinator Dr M Meenakshisundaram.
