Nehru Memorial College: History
It was founded by late Thiru M.Mooka Pillai and inaugurated by C.N Annadurai M.A. then C.M of T.N. on 29th June 1967. It was his long cherished desire to contribute to the cause of higher education in the rural area of India.

With University of Madras granting affiliation, the college commenced its journey in humble note with four sections of Pre University classes. Entering into its 38th year of its existence, the college today offers U.G, P.G courses, M.Phil and Certificate courses all duly approved and affiliated. To add feather to its cap it was granted Autonomous status in 2005-2006. The college boasts of an academic council formed by experts from various fields of education to format quality syllabus.
Special Features:
For creating awareness in social problems, a number of clubs and associations are available in the college viz…, National Cadet Corps(N.C.C.), NSS (Units for Men and Women separately) Career guidance and counseling center, trekking club and society for information exchange (SINEX). The college offers excellent opportunities for developing special talents. Every student on the roll of the college will be involved in some kind of co-curricular activity.
Special Lectures, Seminars, Workshops, etc.., enable the students to interact with the experts in the filed.
To impart language skills, a language laboratory has been installed. An herbal garden is being put up for initiating research activities in the field of medicines.
A garden is also developed for the cultivation of Bio-diesel plants. A mineral-water plant caters to the drinking water needs of all inside the campus, labs and Research centre.
